Sir, It is a shame you depict welcome EU rules on air travel as "meddling by Brussels bureaucrats". These new rules protect air passengers from being bumped off deliberately overbooked flights. For a start, like all EU legislation, they are adopted not by bureaucrats but by the elected governments of the Member States meeting in the EU Council and the directly elected MEPs in the European Parliament. And as most flights cross international boundaries, this can hardly be described as "meddling" in internal British affairs. Rather, it is an example of dealing with an international problem by agreement with our neighbours. This particular problem is one that would be simply impossible for us to address alone.
