MEP to discuss Leeds-Milan final with UEFA

Yorkshire and Humber MEP Richard Corbett will tonight meet with UEFA Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson to discuss Leeds United's defeat to AC Milan in the 1973 Cup Winners' Cup final.

Richard wrote to UEFA in August asking them to investigate the outcome of the match after Milan  were again implicated in a match-fixing scandal over the summer.

Richard said: "Following my letter to UEFA I received a lot of mail from constituents on the issue. Some were already planning an open top bus tour but the more realistic were hoping UEFA could at least shed some light on the match and explain why the referee was suspended but the match not replayed or the trophy awarded to Leeds.

"I look forward to discussing the issue with Mr Olsson and hope he can help me provide a thorough explanation of what went on that night if not give the club a much-deserved trophy."
