Corbett urges UKIP to come clean on financial irregularities

Richard Corbett, Labour's Deputy Leader in the European Parliament, today called on UKIP to follow Labour's example of having their MEPs accounts independently audited following another series of reports alleging financial irregularities among UKIP MEPs.

Richard said - "UKIP often claim to be the only party telling voters the truth. Yet the ongoing allegations of financial malpractice, investigations and fines from the Electoral Commission and apparent embezzlement of taxpayers' money highlights their outrageous double standards and damages the public's confidence in their increasingly discredited band of elected politicians."

In contrast, all Labour MEPs have their accounts independently audited. UKIP would do well to learn from Labour's example."
