Euro MPs urge Prime Minister to save York Remploy factory

York Euro MPs Richard Corbett and Linda McAvan have written to Gordon Brown in an attempt to halt the closure of the city's Remploy factory, following the Prime Minister's recent talks with Remploy officers and convenors.

Richard said: "It's important we do all we can for the Remploy factory in York because it provides unique employment opportunities to this area. There are very few suitable alternatives and there is certainly no other Remploy factory near by."

Linda said: "Hopefully the Prime Minister can step in and halt the closure of the factory or at least ensure provisions are made for the employees who will lose their jobs. Remploy workers want to keep working. We should support them to do so."
