The CD, which is not party political, includes a detailed PowerPoint presentation, a video and a series of leaflets all explaining how the EU works.
Richard said: "It is vital that young people know how their local council works, how the British parliament works and how the European Union works and since the introduction of citizenship classes children now get the chance to learn about them.
"We are obviously all affected by how our country is run and teenagers are no exception. Rules agreed at EU level mean that a younger brother or sister's toy will not contain dangerous chemicals and ensure the food they are eating is safe. They guarantee part-time workers paid holiday and the chance to live and work in another EU country. The aim of my CD was to explain how these rules were created and agreed and give an insight into my job as a Member of the European Parliament."

- Spring Day in Europe 2009 begins on March 25th and ends May 9th.
- Schools are encouraged to book one or many days in their calendar to involve their students in activities that focus on debate, interaction and reflection on European themes in particular, innovation and creativity.
