Was it worth spending a day away in London? Yes — I was able to give two speeches to packed rooms, one at the London Economics Seminar about Britain’s future in Europe and why the EU is so important for our economy, and one at the London School of Economics on the role of the European Council (the “summits” of Prime Ministers or Presidents of EU Member States) in the EU system. The latter audience included some knowledgable academics, one of whom compared Herman Van Rompuy to Clement Attlee: understated approach but able to calmly secure consensus for significant reforms that history will look on kindly.

Also had a useful couple of meetings in Westminster.
